Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, Canada

Buzz: Back to nature getaways relieve stress, revitalize the spirit and provide inspiration. Away from the bustle of the city with crystal clean waters and super fresh air, a nature retreat can be enriching for the body and the soul.
Hiking Juniper Trail across from Radium Hot Springs: For me, the perfect escape is hiking the Canadian rocky mountains. The juniper trail across from Radium hot springs meanders up the mountainside to spectacular mountain views of the Columbia Valley leading to a beautiful creek and Sinclair Falls, set amidst a lush rain forest like setting. The area is rich with wildlife and mountain sheep can often be sited grazing in open areas. Afterwards a relaxing soak in the nearby hot springs makes the perfect getaway.
Review: The 3 km medium difficulty trek up the mountain was challenging enough to provide a good workout (great to lift and tone the glutes). Radium is truly beautiful, the weather was great and the hot springs were an unbeatable bonus that provided the uplift I was looking for.
Hiking cost: Free (Hot Springs <$10)
Area activities: Golfing, horseback riding, rafting, mountain climbing, world class skiing, wildlife...
