The spa should signal peace and relaxation as soon as you walk in the door with the right combination of space, light, decor, scent and music. You will recognize it instantly.
The therapist should be registered, experienced and sensitive to your individual needs. I must have tried out more than a dozen combinations of spas and therapists before I found one that was perfect for me - soft lighting, jazzy music, skilled therapist and no talking. A complete escape.
First timers generally have a quick meet and greet with the therapist and fill out a simple health questionnaire. You will then shown to the studio and given some time to undress, cover up and and get comfortable on the massage table. Don't worry your privacy will be respected.
Standard massages are usually a combination of relaxation, therapeutic and deep tissue massage. You let the massage therapist know your preferences and how much pressure to apply. Simply relax and enjoy.
Benefits of massage include: released tension, muscle alignment, detoxification, pain relief, greater range of movement, improved posture, tissue detoxification and improved circulation. Most importantly it just feels great. Meld to the healing power of touch.
Cost is approximately $70 to $100 for a one hour session. Shorter or longer sessions are usually available. Registered massage therapy is sometimes covered by private/employer health insurance.
Spoil yourself - you deserve it!
