White Teeth for a Glam Smile

Buzz: Bright white teeth are essential to achieve that Hollywood glam smile.

Beauty 101: White teeth signal youth, health and hygiene all fundamental to revealing your inner princess. A smile is the cross cultural symbol of confidence, pleasure and happiness. With a smile you actively communicate your jena se qua (X factor) for an instantaneous attraction. Candy for the princess.

The Basics:
  • Regular dental visits including professional cleaning and polishing
  • Brush and floss regularly (sonic toothbrush is a good option)
  • Use a whitening toothpaste like Crest 3D
  • Finish with a whitening rinse
  • Limit tobacco, coffee, black tea, dark cola and red wine
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Finnish with a good lip balm like Ecotints
  • Supplement vitamin C for healthy gums

Whitening: Once you covered the basics and you teeth still need a whitening boost, there are several choices at various price points. The fastest and most effective is professional laser whitening (Zoom Whitening) an in-office dental procedure costing about $300.00. Cheaper and reasonably effective alternatives are over the counter peroxide treatment kits like Crest Whitestrips ($25-$50) that brighten your smile over a series of treatments. Peroxide can irritate your gums and cause tooth sensitivity; remember to follow directions and heed package direction. For a gentler natural approach, brushing with coconut oil is surprisingly effective natural alternative.

Tip: Lipstick with blue undertones will make you teeth appear even whiter.

Fresh Air & Exercise

Buzz: Fresh air and a little exercise gives the body energy and the skin a healthy glow. Living cells require plenty of oxygen, water and nutrition. A daily walk promotes vitality, burns calories and encourages regular sleeping patterns. It is good for your well being and can provide a sustainable connection to your community.

Beauty 101: Fresh air and exercise provides that radiant outdoor glow by increasing the body's rate of oxygen intake. The trick is to make it a daily good habit. Each walk can take on it's own special character depending on the route you take, the things you see and the people you encounter. Invite your dog, family or friends to join you but a walk alone is also a worthwhile experience. I get my best ideas while walking. The rhythmic steps bring on an alpha state much like meditation that helps to manage stress (less stress means less wrinkles) and inspire posititivity. Nightly walks are a great way to unwind from a high stress day. Walks in the daytime have the added sunshine benefit that boosts your vitamin D and warms your spirit.

Fresh Air: Fresh air is fundamental to your health and therefore your beauty, so make it a priority. High quality air is found near natural outdoor environments like forests, waterways and mountains. If you live in the city, a walk in a nearby park or neighbourhood is nearly always better than indoor air. Keep your indoor air as pure as possible, open windows, be aware of and limit off gassing appliance, carpets and furniture.

Cautions: Practice regular sun safety. Remember to stay sufficiently hydrated. Check with your doctor before embarking on a new fitness program.

Beauty 101

What does it mean to be beautiful?

External Beauty: Through ages and cultures, external beauty has been defined consistently. Beauty is the combination of youthfulness, health, symmetry plus a certain jeune se qua or defining quality that sets you apart from the crowd. Possessing beauty is a full package. It is something genuine that can not be promised from a bottle, pill or diet. When you see beauty you recognize it instantly and you are instinctively drawn to it.

Internal Beauty: The pursuit of beauty is not a selfish endeavour. Those who appreciate beauty in the external world will foster it internally. Beautiful people who are kind, generous and fun loving radiate their inner beauty externally. They are more relaxed and age more gracefully. The secret to being beautiful is to strive for it. In your appearance yes, but also in your home, your relationships, your art and your community.

Anyone can be beautiful (it just takes some effort): Once you know what beauty is, it becomes more achievable. Start by appreciating beauty in your surroundings and in nature. Strive for for good health. Make joy a priority. Radiate confidence. Have a beautiful life!
